How does it work?

Create your own Formicarium in 4 steps.

  • 1.

    CHOOSE YOUR MODULES

Nests to house your ants, outworlds for exploring and feeding.

  • 2.

    ASSEMBLE YOUR MODULES

Depending on your installation choose feet connectors for two, three or four modules.

  • 3.

    ADD ACCESSORIES

Feeders, anti-escape, tubes... Customize your installation for optimal breeding.

  • 4.

    PROGRESSIVE EXPANSION

Modify, connect, expand without stress at the pace of your colony.

Fourmis Shop Foundation Kit

The Fourmis Shop Foundation Kit is ideal for your queen and young ant foundations . It's the perfect alternative to a test tube. This kit meets your ants' needs while being compatible with the entire Fourmis Shop range of modular nests and allowing for optimal observation!

Endlessly modular nests to support the evolution of your colonies.

To thrive, an ant colony needs a nest that is suited to the number of workers it has. Too much space stresses the colony, encourages the creation of dumps and the appearance of mites and other parasites.
With a nest of the correct size, the colony grows naturally, but in a conventional nest, a move quickly becomes necessary—a delicate and stressful operation.
Thanks to our modular nests , there's no need to move: simply add a suitable module to support the expansion of your colony in the best conditions.
Each module has 4 outputs and can be connected to 4 other modules, allowing you to create a unique and scalable artificial formicarium .

An ideal color for observation

The light khaki color of the modules makes it easy to observe the ants and their brood, including their eggs, larvae, pupae, and cocoons. This color highlights the ants and also highlights the ant brood, which is primarily white. This allows you to better observe your colonies and their development.

Smart module connection system

The system for connecting the modules and outworlds is simple and effective. The feet are replaced when a module is added. They allow you to connect two, three, or four modules together and securely fasten them together so that the connection is secure and ants cannot escape.

For a step-by-step guide on how to connect a new module, see this page .

Galleries designed for your ants

Each module is designed so that the ants have a circulation corridor outside the chambers. This way, ants performing various tasks in the nest chambers are not hindered by those coming and going, constantly crossing the modules to circulate through them.

size guide

What room depth should you choose for your ant colony?

When ordering a module, you have a choice of two room depths. This allows you to adapt the space to the needs of each species and promote good observation.

  • 5mm depth

    For small species of type:
    Pheidole
    Tetramorium
    Lasius
    Temnothorax
    Crematogaster
    Myrmica

  • 10mm depth

    For large type species:
    Formica
    Camponotus
    Messor

    and more.
    -
    Small species
    can also be raised in
    10mm modules,
    which can accommodate
more workers, to the detriment nevertheless
    of observation.
